April come she will

This is always a hectic month with much going on - time to get the yard and garden cleaned up, tax time, SCAPE at Bacara, Easter, anniversary, workshop... and weather is unpredictable. Did get some lovely days in between damp, gray marine layer days. We had our usual Monday painting days plus a couple of California Art Club paint-outs at Ellwood and the Douglas Preserve.
The following 2 paintings are from those paint-outs, sponsored by the Waterhouse Gallery.

spring bloom, Douglas Preserve, 8"x10" oil on panel

Monday painting at Parma Park, I decided to use gouache as I'd felt out of practice. Also wanted to try a new watercolor board surface.
Libby and I taught a half-day gouache workshop at Westmont College. It was great fun!

We had a good Monday at Ellwood once again, though the light changed fast. The wild mustard must be over 6' tall now.
